HORIZONS group will join firemen at annual fundraising supper
On Saturday, October 27, at 5:30 p.m. HORIZONS will be joining the Bison Volunteer Firemen at the Bentley Building during their annual pancake supper.
A brief presentation of data, issues, and activities that were identified in previous Study Circles and Leadership Plenty will be introduced in between the pancake supper and bingo.
Attendees will then be surveyed to determine the importance of identified issues and will also be given the opportunity to suggest community issues that have not been identified.
This is an important phase of the Bison HORIZONS project because it will focus on collecting input from our community. This input will be essential to helping the HORIZONS project paint a picture of the community’s future and develop a plan to make that picture a reality.
Several community issues were identified in Study Circles and Leadership Plenty. The following issues will be included on the survey for your consideration: town clean-up/improved signage, establishing an Internet-based business, lodging, assisted living center, new housing, planned social activities, and promoting outdoor sports.
After reviewing the surveys and determining what projects the community feels are most important, a HORIZONS planning committee will manage the planning process and the implementation of the Strategic Community Plan.
Three planning sessions will be held to create the Strategic Plan. It will include 5-7 community goals. Each goal will have at least one objective with implementation steps, deadlines, and methods of evaluation. A celebration will then take place to present the Strategic Plan to the community.
The implementation of the Strategic Community Plan begins November 1. It will continue until the Horizons Planning Committee determines that objectives have been completed or the interest level in the community has changed.
Throughout the evening a display will be set up at the Bentley Building explaining the various phases of the HORIZONS program. There will also be information about several items purchased through the HORIZONS program such as a paint sprayer (beautification projects), garden tools and garden supplies (community garden) and Internet equipment (Internet-based business) that are available for community use. HORIXONS invites you to stop by the display, get informed about the program in addition to signing up for two $100.00 gas cards, two $50.00 gas cards or $400.00 worth of other great door prizes.
HORIZONS will be covering the cost of advertising and ingredients needed for the 2007 Bison Volunteer Firemen’s pancake supper as a way of saying thank you for allowing us to take part in this annual event as well as showing our appreciation for all that the organization does for our community.
