Beautification Committee Meets

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

As many of you know the HORIZONS project held a community event at the Bentley Building in December of 2007. Three committees were formed as a result of that event: Town Beautification, Economic Development and Community Activities/Youth Involvement.  The Beautification committee met february 27th to discuss ways in which we can help the community look more appealing to visitors in town for the Centennial. Short and long term projects were discussed. In the short term, Coleman Avenue and Main Street were to be the focus and, in addition, it was decided that we could offer general services to residents that are unable to conduct such activities on their own such as tree pruning, mowing and general cleanup. We could repaint the façade of the old bar and remove the sign, possibly paint a house, and offer the Master Gardeners some financial support towards their ‘barrel’ project.  Long term projects might include moving junk vehicles to the landfill and have them crushed and removed, paint another house or two, tree plantings or anything else within our limits that might possibly come up. If you or your property could benefit from the short term projects described above please contact Terry Hall by April 7th at 244-5222 ext4 (w) or 430-0877 in the evening.

Web-site Training

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

Kevin Weishaar did a series of 4 weeks of training on how to create a web-site. I internet.jpgattended training sessions. He was very informative and helpful with everything from how to create a story-board, to taking pictures and uploading them to your web-page to making our videos more user-friendly on-line. He also set each of us up with a web-site of our own off of the Bison web-site. Kevin also sent us each home with some software to help us along the way.  All of this was done to help us get one step closer to bringing our community to the rest of the world.  One of our goals was to establish an Internet business (or call center).  In this goal, we hope to bring more jobs to the Bison area.
